The Calling (Edit/Revised)
The stone corridors of the deep roads would be a sobering sight for anyone who had never seen them before. A new fight
Drifting through both day and night
With every dawn comes a new fight
My mind is the battlefield, broken and wrecked
My emotions the dying, their wounds left unchecked
My sanity slipping, ever closer to the abyss
Slowly into the arms of a welcoming maddness
But still I hold on, I continue the fight
Even if, for now, no end is in sight
Loved ones are my strength
And hope my sword
Together they are pushing me forward
So let the war come, for here I stand ready
Despite my fatigue, my resolve remains steady
A breath and a shout and the fight begins again
The only difference...
This time: Im going to win

I am me.
I am me
Such a simple statement
With a meaning far stronger than others
I am me
I accept my strengths as well as my flaws
I accept that I am not perfect, no person is
But I accept this
For I am me
I trust many easily
Though loving is hard
A weird contradiction to be sure
And although some may judge
I am me.
I avoid conflict, but if I must, I will fight
I protect those around me, with every ounce of my strength
Even though most times nobody is there to protect me
But still
I am me
So don’t judge me
Don’t brush me off on a whim
Because you cannot claim to be without sin
Many have tried to change me
All of them have failed
Ill be myself until I take my last breath
I am Me.

Fight within my mind
A savage strike
Another blow falls
And I find myself against the wall
My breaths become ragged
My wounds, they bleed
My instincts scream for me to flee
But there is no escape
From a fight of this kind
For it is all taking place in my own mind
I manage to strike back but I still feel the pain
I’ve fought so much, but have had no gain
You see its myself that I am fighting
Every emotion
Every thought
Every smile
Every tear
Is being used against me, and the end is not near
But I refuse to fall, I refuse to give in
I will face my demons
My regrets and my sins
So I gather my strength
I jump to my feet
My resolve has returned
Im back in this fight
I’ll stay till the end
Im ready to go
Im ready… to win

Lost in Life
Stuck in darkness
My soul is adrift
Searching for fulfillment
Searching for purpose
Deep inside, my heart has become cold
Resembling nothing more than a hollowed out mold
Stabbed by betrayal
Frozen from sadness and fear
The future for me is worryingly unclear
All the while my mind is full of cascading emotion
As untamable and violent as the world's oceans
Being awake is almost unbearable
Although sleep itself is almost as terrible
Night and day my past still haunts me
And it doesn't relent no matter how much I plea
My feelings are a curse that I wish to destroy
But in reality it's a useless ploy
The only solution is to forget the past
But so far it's something I fail fast
The reality is i'm frozen in fear
So much so it leaves me close to tears
What will happen?
Who will I become?
What will be left when all is said and done?
Will I finally be happy, cease being alone?
Or will I become an empty drone?
It's these thoughts that plague me
Every waking hour, every sleepless night
It's these

Sometimes Im so high I am but a speck
While at others im down on the deck
Weapons hot, and at mach three
With a pair of bandits chasing me
I fight the G's as I juke and turn
My engines screaming from the afterburn
Missiles and bullets flash by my face
Trying to put a fatal end to this chase
I start a dive then up I climb
A smile on my face as my foes pass me by
Over I roll and into their six
Hoping they are all out of tricks
They juke and they dodge as they both try to flee
Then I get a lock and yell "Fox three!"
A moment later explosions light up the sky
And Im the only one who continues to fly
Then the radar screams and flashes red
More bandits incoming, dead ahead
I hit the throttle and away I soar
Into another battle in the skies of war

Guilt
guilt is like a disease
It gets inside of you and takes over your body and mind
it makes you not want to eat and not want to drink
it keeps you awake at night when you dont wish to think
It makes you feel as if youre alone, that youve let everyone important to you down
It makes you want to scream and yet there is no sound
It makes you want to disappear
rather than see another's tears
It makes you lose the strength to fight
It makes you want the end to be in sight
My guilt has torn me apart inside
like all my honor was washed away by a fearsome tide
it made me trully want to surrender
to let the next world have a new member
To enter oblivion's cool embrace
and to leave this world without a trace
But i refuse to resign myself to this path of self destruction
a new me is now under construction
I will learn from my past mistakes
and i will make up for them, no matter what it takes
on this path, there will be resistance
but i dont care, for the moment, this quest is my reason for existance

The Last Keeper- Quick Write
... as the assassin's blade started to descend towards his throat, Skyler closed his eyes and drew forth all the mana from his surroundings. He quickly focused the mana into his right hand, heat blazing through his body as he did so. Then in a swift jerk of his body and arm, he put the concentrated mana into the blade's path; there was a flash of brilliant scarlet light as the blade struck.
As the light faded, the assassin stepped back quickly, temporarily blinded by the brilliant display of elemental ability. Skyler seized the opportunity and scrambled to his feet, and grabbed Flamtelos from where it had fallen just after the assassin's attack began. There was a rasp of metal on leather as Skyler drew the exotic red and black toned blade from it's sheath. Then he brought the blade up into a defensive stance, and watched for his opponent's next move.
By then the assassin had recovered from the blinding light and he turned to look at Skyler. There was the briefest flicker of shock and a

The insurgent smiled as he lowered his AK47 until it was aimed directly at James' head. James tried with all his strength to make a move for his thigh holster and the pistol inside it, but it was no use; he was stuck and he couldn't move. So all he could do is stare as the terrorist squeezed the trigger…
"Jay… hey Jay!" James awoke with a start; it had all been a dream, then. "Jay?" Tyler asked again, "you alright man? You were talking in your sleep." James subtly stretched his neck muscles before he answered. "Yeah, I'm fine, just a bad dream," he said with a shrug, "What do you have?" Tyler didn't look completely convinced, but he held off pushing the subject and reported what he had seen through his spotter's scope.
"Our target's convoy arrived about five minutes ago," he said, "about twenty-five people total." James yawned and got back behind his rifle, "Is the target with them?" he asked. Their target was a local Al Qaeda leader, code named "Fox" by military intelligence

Just got back from Momocon yesterday... It was an absolute blast. Took my Resident Evil 1 Chris Redfield cosplay out for its second Con and it was pretty well received. Im really proud of it because when I first wore it to last years momocon, it was also the first time that I had ever partaken in cosplay. This year I was more confident in it and through that I was able to meet and chat with alot of very cool individuals and at the end of the weekend I walked away with many laughs, photos, and new friends, so I cant ask for much more.

As for photos, I'll see about uploading them in the next few days after I get caught back up on my adulting (Honestly wish that I could... you know, not) so keep an eye out.

And again I know that I havent been that active so if this goes unread by the majority of my watchers, I completely understand. However, Im slowly regaining my artistic drive both for writing and now cosplay.

Ive realized that over the past couple of years that I have become so involved with the everyday grind that I have distanced myself from the ideas and passions that made me want to write and to express myself through art. I am going to try to get back to that drive now because this con was a wake up call that at the end of the line, one is not going to look back and remember the bills, the money, the job. Rather they're going to look back on cherished memories and things that they did that made them happy.

With that said, keep an eye out for new stuff, because its high time for this warrior to get back into the fight.

Take care yall!

The stone corridors of the deep roads would be a sobering sight for anyone who had never seen them before. Once those cursed beings emerged from the deep, everything changed. One by one, the old thaigs fell until only the cities of Orzamaar and Kal Sharrok remained and the deep roads either fell into ruin or became darkspawn strongholds and breeding grounds.

Yes, to anyone else it would be sobering...

The rest of the world considered the roads as mere ruins of a time long passed, serving no purpose but a history lesson, save for the dwarves, who desperately cling to the hope that the ruins may hold a long lost key to being able to reclaim their former empire from the darkspawn. However, the deep roads did have another, special purpose to an order almost as old as the taint itself. That order was the Grey Wardens.

Comprised of men and women from all races and all lots of life, the Grey Wardens cast aside their former lives in service to the cause of combating the darkspawn and the blight. In the minds of the people of Thedas, there were no people better at fighting that particular evil. What the people didnt know is how the wardens acquired their abilities... and the price that they had to pay for them.

Every grey warden had to undertake a ritual called the joining. In this ritual, a warden recruit would drink the tainted blood of the darkspawn, upon which the recruit would either perish from the poisonous blood, or they would survive and be able to 'hear' the thoughts of the darkspawn, and archdemon in the times of a blight; Through this they gain the ability to sense them, among others... but this came at a price, even if the warden survived. The taint was a death sentence, it wasnt talked about much, but the fact remained that after a while, a wardens connection to the collective 'mind' of the darkspawn would slowly begin to drive them insane before finally succumbing.

In the time leading up to this, a warden would begin to hear the whispers of the taint calling to them, luring them to seek out the Gods of old tevinter, the great dragons that would become archdemons and lead the darkspawn hordes in the blights. Maybe it was simplicity or some morbid sense of irony that the wardens named this the calling. When it was time for a warden's calling, rather than wait for the inevidable, it was tradition to go to the deep roads and die in battle with their enemy. It was a faster and more honorable end for the warden, and the world benefited from each darkspawn slain...

The Calling... The end of the road...

That dreaded moment had finally arrived for Ancielia Mahariel, Hero of the fifth blight, and Commander of the Grey Wardens of Ferelden. 'Former commander' She thought to herself with a sigh as she pushed deeper into the deep roads. The past twenty years had been filled with more adventure than she couldve ever imagined as a child. She smiled sadly, she had seldomly thought of her clan for the past several years. She wondered what had become of them all, after the archdemon had been slain over fort Drakon, her clan had been granted land of their own on the edges of the kokari wilds including Ostagar.

Ostagar... the place where it all really began for her. After being afflicted by the taint due to a corrupted elluvian, the former commander of the grey in ferelden, Duncan, had conscripted her as a recruit. They had traveled to Ostagar to meet up with then King Cailen and his army, where they were amassed to stop the blight before it could begin. Her joining was conducted prior to the battle, she had been the only one to survive... Then the battle, and the now infamous betrayal of Teryn Logain, had happened, which had set her and Alistair on their legendary quest to gather an army to defeat the blight.

I could save the world, but not myself...

During the years following the end of the blight, she had taken volunteers to the farthest reaches of the known world, trying to find a way to stop the calling. Ultimately, she had found only clues and theories, not enough to prevent her own calling but maybe she had spared future wardens her soon to be fate. She had lost several friends because of that quest... she had lost a few wardens on the quest itself but the real loss came in the form of the losses during the time of the new inquisition against the darkspawn magister Corepheus. Corepheus had found a way to manipulate wardens via their connection to the taint, and the ones that he couldnt control directly, he played them to desperation by simulating the the whispers that now plagued her, tricking them into believing that their own callings had come. When the Inquisition had tried to stop things at Adament fortress, Alistair had been with them to provide whatever aid he could... only to end up lost when he along with the inquisitor and the champion of kirkwall had been trapped in the fade.

"I should have been there. I could have saved him." She hissed, as the whispers began to increase into a torrent of sinister wails. The two had become lovers before the battle of Denerim and had remained such all the way to her departure on the quest to stop the calling, when he had promised her that they would settle down properly upon her return.

The tears came as they had every time she had thought of their last words to each other almost three years ago. She was well beyond the point of dignity by now and it wasnt as if anyone was around to see, so she let them flow freely... If theres one good thing about all this, its that Ill get to see you again, creators willing the thought was unexpected but not unwelcome, like finally finding a silver lining in a horrid situation.

The voice shrieked through her mind once more, forcing the elven warden to her knees, hands grasping desperately at her head. "DREAD WOLF TAKE YOU!" she yelled, her voice echoing through the passage she was currently in. She sat there for several moments, half expecting to be swarmed by darkspawn at any moment, she could sense them, and they were close, but for now they remained at bay. She got up and continued on, taking her bow into her hand. The bow was simple ironbark, but it was special to her, it had been a gift to her from a sister clan's craftsmaster, and she felt good having any piece of her heritage with her at the end.

She stopped when she came upon an ancient dwarven gate, she must have been at the entrance to an old thaig and from the intensity of the call, it was overflowing with darkspawn. "So this is it then..." She started, but stopped, she had already said her goodbyes, in person where she could, by letter for the rest. She had visited Leiana in person a few months ago, who had offered to pray for her, which Ancielia had accepted, even though she was not Andrestean, it was the thought that counts, the former chantry sister had also given her a quiver full of enchanted arrows, which the warden had slung on her shoulder.

Her old friend Oghren had shared a drink with her and given her a map of several passages of the deep roads. The rest of her former comrades had scattered to the winds over the years and were too far beyond her reach to make a face to face goodbye possible.

She took a breath and relented, wishing everyone farewell one last time, Goodbye my friends, live well and gloriously and may the dread wolf never find your scent... with that she hit the mechanism to unlock the gate, already bringing an arrow to half draw...

The gate swung open to reveal the ancient thaig, and the hundreds of darkspawn that dwelled there. They shrieked out and began to rush towards the gate and the lone grey warden. Anceilia stepped through and the gate shut immediately behind her and began firing her arrows as fast as her skill would allow. As she fired, a part of her mind thought back over her life, while another part recited the simple motto of the grey wardens...

In war, Victory... She saw the many fights that she and alistair had fought during the blight. Ending with her sinking a fallen blade deep within the neck of the archdemon, vanquishing it forever...

She was out of arrows now, and a hurlock was close... she lashed out, using the bow as a melee weapon, stunning the beast long enough to draw her dagger and slit its throat...

In peace, Vigilance... She saw the wardens that she had trained following the blight, and the many adventures she had been on in the intervening years...

A darkspawn arrow found its mark, embedding deep into her shoulder. She broke the shaft and continued fighting, ignoring the pain...

In death...

"Sacrifice." She whispered as a darkspawn blade pierced her armor and her world began to go black. She fell to the ground and she stared at the ceiling as everything went completely dark... then a light, and a familiar voice "I still remember when I gave you that rose I took from Lothering... You're still as beautiful as you were that day..."

"Alistair?" her voice rang out in the void.

"Yes, its me... I think... yep totally me. Come now my love, its all over now." Alistair said with a slight laugh as he came into view, hand outstretched. She felt tears once more, but not ones of sorrow, but of relief and happiness, she had done her part for Thedas, now it was time for her to be with her love, finally at peace.

A short while later, by accident or fate, a company from the dwarven Legion of the Dead cleared out the old thaig and came across the body of Ancielia. Grey wardens were well respected by the Legion but every legionairre knew the hero of Ferelden. One of the legionairres knew of dalish burial traditions and they decided to give her a proper funeral by her customs. They were uneasy of going to the surface, as most dwarves were, but they felt honor bound to brave it for the warden who had done so much during the blight. So they took her and cleaned the dirt and grime from her frail body and took it to the surface. Once there, they buried her next to a small stream and planted a small cutting from a nearby tree over her. "Astrus Valla, Warden. May you always find your way in the dark." the legionairre said before laying the warden's bow and dagger atop the grave. He and his fellows then turned back, returning to the deep where they would continue the fight they shared with the Wardens... the same fight that had finally claimed the Hero of Ferelden...
The Calling (Edit/Revised)
A revised version of 'The Calling' I felt the flow was off a tad and felt I used the word 'darkspawn' too much so I went back and changed it up just a little. perfectionism at its finest

She took a breath and wished everyone farewell once more, Goodbye my friends, live well and gloriously and may the dread wolf never find your scent... with that she hit the mechanism to unlock the gate, already bringing an arrow to half draw...

They took her body and cleaned the dirt and grime from her frail body and took it to a nearby access path to the surface. One of the legionairres knew of the dalish traditions and he led a few volunteers to the surface where they buried her and planted a small cutting from a nearby tree over her. "Astrus Valla, Warden. May you always find your way in the dark." the legionairre said before laying the warden's bow and dagger atop the grave and returning to the deep where he and his bretheren would continue the fight that had finally claimed the Hero of Ferelden...
The Calling
The Grey Wardens are heros of legend. Fighting a never ending fight against the darkspawn wherever they may be... but what the people of thedas dont know is what happens to a warden at the end of the line... this is the ending to the story of one of my Wardens, a female dalish elf named Anceilia...
